Targeted Publicity and Promotions Intern, Motion Picture Group - Spring 2018
Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) is a subsidiary of Sony Entertainment Inc., a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Sony Corporation. SPE's global operations encompass motion picture production, acquisition and distribution; television production, acquisition and distribution; television networks; digital content creation and distribution; operation of studio facilities; and development of new entertainment products, services and technologies.
The internship will consist of numerous research projects to be assigned by the SVP of Domestic Publicity and/or her Assistant in the Field Team. These will include and not be limited to looking up information regarding filmmakers, talent, reps, competitive releases, screenings, film festivals, venues, etc. Interns will also support the managing of the binder system and assist with keeping department documents up to date such as film calendars, strategy, memos, etc. The fall interns will help the department with the preparation for upcoming events like local and national field activations, participate in weekly publicity staff meetings, work press junkets and world premieres. The interns will also be asked to conduct script coverage and contribute creative ideas for campaigns.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Researching and updating talent/filmmaker information in pertinent documents
• Updating film calendars on a weekly basis
• Participating in department and team meetings; offering thoughtful ideas and input
• Reading scripts and writing script coverage on an as needed basis
• Organizing and updating executive binders with current documents
• Helping at off-site events/activations nearby (paint nights, outdoor movies, special screenings, etc.) as needed
• Planning for and helping at Promo Screenings, Junkets and World Premieres
The intern will gain experience/exposure to the following:
• Film marketing from a studio perspective
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills Attention to detail
• Pursuing Bachelor's Degree
• Avid interest in Publicity, Marketing, and/or Communications
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
• Proficient in Internet research and experience in a professional office environment Entertainment experience preferred

This Spring internship is from Tuesday, January 9th or Monday, January 16th through May 4, 2018. All candidates must be able to work 10-29 hours a week with respect to their school schedule and be enrolled in an accredited degree program for the entire duration of their internship.
