IT TV Business Relationship Management Intern, Corporate – Spring 2018
OVERVIEW: A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF YOUR DEPARTMENT
The Television IT BRM (Business Relationship Management) Team supports all IT needs of Sony Pictures Television. Within that group, there are teams aligned with each of the four TV Towers – the Intern would be working with the TV Productions tower, which includes Legal & Business Affairs. The applications in the team's portfolio cover a wide range of functions including contract & rights management, legal clearance and compliance, executive tools, casting platforms and game show databases.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
There is a growing trend of using applications that function more like platforms on which you can build semi-custom apps by using configuration tools, as opposed to coding. The focus of this internship will be to work with the configurable tools that we now have in the portfolio on some key projects, including the GPMS Rights Replacement project.
Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Working with the BRM to document user stories
• Performing hands-on configuration work in the tool to fulfill the story requirements
• Working with the technical team on integrations and other technical requirements
• Data mapping and modeling
The intern will gain experience/exposure to the following:
• Development of skills in using the tool and understanding the benefits (and challenges) of using a platform vs. custom development
• Business Analysis processes and deliverables
• Data modeling and mapping
• Key business processes unique to the entertainment industry such as script clearance, music clearance and MPAA titles registration
• Interaction with all levels in the organization, including senior level executives and creative teams
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Enrollment in an accredited college/university for the duration of the internship
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's in technology
• Basic Computer Science or Information Science principles – data modeling, coding, querying
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience building databases, apps or websites using a platform tool (e.g. MS Dynamics, Force.com, MS Access, FMP, etc.) a plus
