Manager, Publicity
The Publicity Manager is responsible to plan and execute the PR strategy for the Sony Pictures Hollywood film slate and all requisite Corporate communication. This includes a PR plan enveloping all stake-holders, at a consumer, trade, corporate and media level, for India, under the direction of and to support the Marketing Director. This position will handle all the pre-launch, launch and post-launch PR brand building to ensure the successful roll-out of Sony's multiple film offerings across the Hollywood film slates.
Core Responsibilities:
• Proactive development of effective and innovative PR plans (across original and dubbed versions) for each film, in conjunction with the overall marketing strategy
• Implementation of PR plan, writing press releases, pitching and securing editorial features in print, online and broadcast media across the mainline as well as regional media
• Co-ordinating press junkets/ set visits, scheduling and overseeing press screenings, pitching and coordinating press coverage at premiers, covering talent interviews with broadcast, print and online media
• Ideating out of the box PR stunts to create news opportunities for the films
• Liaise and maintain excellent working relationships with filmmakers and talent representative
• PR Networking with members of the media (print, TV, radio, online) to ensure superlative coverage for both the Company and the film slate
• Market & Competition analysis: Carrying out detailed market study of the industry, analyzing the latest market trends, tracking competitor activities and providing valuable inputs for the marketing strategy of our films
• Corporate PR: Managing and profiling the corporate brand of Sony Pictures and the spokespersons and ensuring visibility across relevant trade and business media, identifying speaker opportunities, festival participation
• Co-ordinate and interact with Home Office pertaining to PR (junkets, strategy, reports and updates etc.)
• Drive the PR agency to meet the strategy objectives set for films and company
• Responsible for Media alliances and tie-ups for films
• Work with the Marketing, Promotions, Digital and Sales teams on integrated campaigns

Experience:
• 8-10 years of PR experience in the categories of films, media, entertainment
• Experience in planning and rolling out multiple-media PR campaigns
Required Skills:
• Excellent presentations and pitching skills – both verbal and written
• Planning and organisational skills: The ability to plan ahead, be mindful of deadlines and manage a variety of projects at the same time. A good eye for details is required
• A good team player, organized, professional work ethics
• Negotiation skills
• Strategic ideating capability backed by executional ability
• High levels of energy, commitment, strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent relation management skills
• Ability to work independently under pressure and be highly organized
• Working with diverse personalities across external and internal stake-holders/clients
Knowledge of:
Must have a detailed and experienced understanding of the theatrical business along with knowledge in the following areas:
• Sound fundamentals in marketing strategy, media, brand building and implementation skills. Understanding of film marketing and creative strategy from a big picture view in order to align PR with the overall strategy
• Strong relationships with the media people and with media houses
• Some knowledge of the local film market and international marketplace practices and cultures would be ideal
• Passion and appreciation for movies is preferred
Fiscal Responsibility: Major role but not the final authority. Managing budgets at multiple levels depending on the scale of release of the film
