The Senior Analyst, Sales Reporting & Analysis will be responsible for multiple aspects of sales analysis, including building complex label reports and analyzing account sales and stream data, radio airplay and other advanced metrics. Work will primarily include regular reporting duties, however there will be a number of ad hoc projects, so time management is essential. The person in this role must be able to efficiently retrieve and analyze data from internal systems using Excel, Access, Business Objects, Tableau and Alteryx, as well as external systems such as Nielsen SoundScan/Connect and Mediabase, and to make recommendations to improve current reports and processes. The Senior Analyst will be tasked to effectively communicate findings to the labels, senior management and sales teams. This information will ultimately help determine label priorities and support Sony Music’s sales and marketing strategies. The individual in this position will work very closely with the existing Reporting, Analytics, and Research teams, as well as the Sales team and labels, to help drive Sony Music’s sales, revenues and market share.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain and update multiple weekly sales and streaming reports for senior management at Sony labels including
• DMA level sales/stream reports
• International sales/stream reports
• International preorder reports
• Catalog reporting
• Project detail and consumer level analytic reports
• Set up daily tracking grids for new key song releases
• Communicate new release tracking (albums and songs) to label sales teams
• Address ad hoc sales and marketing analysis requests from labels in a timely and accurate manner
• Utilize Nielsen Soundscan & Connect, Business Objects, Alteryx and Tableau to produce reports and analysis
• Understand data sources and systems to ensure data integrity and report accuracy
• Interact with IT to resolve technical issues and implement enhancements to sales reporting systems
Qualifications:
• Minimum four years of experience in sales analysis, reporting, and/or finance
• Experience in the music industry or other entertainment field strongly preferred
• Understand industry issues around digital and physical sales and streaming, industry trends, new business models, competitive landscape
• Possess strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Advanced knowledge of all primary MS Office software especially Excel (VBA and Macros)
• Alteryx, Tableau, Business Objects preferred
• Communicate effectively and confidently with label sales and executives
• Understand how to present data clearly – orally, in writing, and in presentations
• Be organized and handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Have to a “customer service” mentality to ensure the needs of labels, accounts and senior management are met in a timely and satisfactory manner
