Full Time Unpaid Internship
The Orchard's Product Design Team translates user needs into innovative product designs that span multiple channels and devices. Product Designers? - embody the vision of the user through the interface. Product Designers help solve problems based on user research, while bearing business objectives in mind. They help identify, investigate, and validate opportunities and ultimately assist in shipping design solutions.
Based in our New York office, you’ll learn how to design graphics that are original and innovative, while still respecting individual branding requirements. You’ll be paired with a mentor, who will work closely with you to give detailed guidance on a number of projects, and help you develop key design skills.
This will be an opportunity to learn about how The Orchard:
• Takes broad, conceptual ideas and turns them into something useful and valuable for our users
• Designs flows and experiences that are incredibly simple and elegant
• Makes high-level strategic decisions
• Creates an environment to give and solicit feedback from other designers in order to continually raise our bar for quality
• Looks to PMs, engineers, researchers and content strategists to oversee the user experience of a product from conception until launch
Qualifications
• MUST be a college student enrolled in a class and receiving credit specifically for this internship. This is an unpaid internship. Interns will need to provide documentation verifying enrollment.
• You're a rising college senior, enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree program
• You have a portfolio of design projects you would like to continue to develop
• You have experience with visual design, especially in the construction of visual hierarchies on layouts, and attention to detail on typography, spacing, and colors
• You're experienced with with common front-end technologies (e.g. HTML, CSS, Javascript).
