A newly created role within Global Finance (NY based position, reporting into London based VP) to
assist with analysis of strategic investment opportunities including Deal Analysis, Financial Modelling and Due Diligence; Business & Market Analysis and Review; and Global Financial Planning & Analysis activities.
Responsibilities
Assist the Vice President, Global Financial Planning & Analysis with the analysis of strategic investment opportunities, including the review of financial and market data in order to determine valuations of acquisition targets and financial benefits of artist, catalogue and new business deals
• Work with business units in the preparation and review of deal memos and financial models before submission to senior management for approval
• Support NY-based FP&A team by conducting revenue analysis, margin analysis, and benchmarking; as well as assisting in annual budget and mid-range plan process, and monthly and quarterly forecast process
• Handle preparation of monthly reporting schedules including creation of Flash and Forecast books
• Prepare deliverables and analysis for quarterly earnings reports and analysis for Sony Investor Relations and press inquiries
• Analyze competitive landscape, including market / market share and competitor financial results
• Proactively identify potential investment opportunities across music and media landscape consistent with overall strategic goals of the company
• Oversee ad hoc projects (presentations / developing and reviewing internal reporting templates / etc.)
Qualifications
Essentials:
• Financial modelling / analysis of potential new deals / acquisition targets
• 2 - 3 years’ experience in investment banking or management consulting
• Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting from top school
• Strong analytical/technical skills
• Excel to advanced level (pivot tables / vlookups / Macros / forecast modelling)
• SAP / BW / BPC experience (preferred)
• Music Experience (preferred)
• Internal / External Audit Experience (preferred)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including Powerpoint presentation skills, and strong interpersonal skills
• Commercial awareness and consideration of industry developments
• Must be a team player
• Ability to use own initiative to drive forward projects
• Highly organised
• Works well to tight deadlines
• Rigorous eye for detail
