As part of the College Marketing Department, the Urban Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day workflow of the Urban College Marketing Representatives. The manager will work with all Sony Music’s record labels on creating and executing marketing initiatives and campaigns.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the day to day activities of 25 Sony Music U Urban College Marketing Reps
• Recruit and interview prospective candidates for College Marketing Rep positions
• Train, mentor and provide guidance to entire Sony Music U college marketing team
• Work closely with Sony Music’s label partners to build and implement marketing plans that drive both awareness and consumption
• Work with our reps to create & execute meaningful opportunities for developing artists around a tour or new release
• Cultivate tech-forward partnerships that effectively address the college demographic
• Stay current with all social media platforms and understand how to leverage them for artist awareness
• Attend weekly label marketing meetings and assist with the creative process on all marketing initiatives
• Host bi-weekly conference calls with Urban College marketing team
• Build, plan and maintain a project timeline to be executed by the Urban College marketing team
• Work with Sr. Director and co-manager of College Marketing to build overall strategy for the department
• Attend evening artist showcases and events while representing Sony Music U and supporting our developing artists
• Establish and maintain relationships with label personnel & artist management
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• At least 3-5 years of marketing/sales experience
• Four year degree or equivalent experience
• Broad knowledge of the urban music scene including urban related blogs
• Excellent understanding of social media and digital music platforms
• Knowledge and understanding of Historical Black Colleges and Universities a plus
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Solid project management, problem solving, and time management skills
• Highly organized and capable of handling multiple tasks at any given time
• Strong leadership skills a plus
