POSITION PURPOSE: The Local Executive Director is the head executive for the SAG-AFTRA Hawaii Local. Under direction of the Assistant National Executive Director, Locals, and the Local's Board of Directors, this person is responsible for administering the business affairs of the Hawaii Local, including the policies and programs adopted by the Local's Board of Directors in conjunction with SAG-AFTRA's national strategies, policies and programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversight and management of all aspects of the SAG-AFTRA Local operations, including budgeting, compliance, internal union governance procedures, member outreach, communications, organizing initiatives, and administration and enforcement of all SAG-AFTRA contracts.
• Leads and/or supports negotiations of Local collective bargaining agreements, and related agreements. Supports coordinated strategies for negotiations with direction from appropriate national departments.
• Resolves complex issues and disputes with members, agents and studio/producer representatives, attorneys and business affairs people.
• Serves as a liaison to all relevant member committees. Actively manages internal decision-making processes to ensure timeliness and maximize consensus.
• Oversees the administration and enforcement of the Union's contracts. Establishes and maintains regular communication with SAG-AFTRA members including outreach through coordinated email, print and other electronic communications.
• Works closely with the local board and organizing department to develop and carry out internal and external organizing efforts.
• Develops, maintains and leverages strategic relationships with industry stakeholders and strategic partners in the Local's jurisdiction, including SAG-AFTRA members, member representatives, entertainment unions, industry affiliates, local and state elected officials, labor and community organizations (e.g., state and local affiliates of the AFL-CIO) and other organizations.
• Leads, assigns or otherwise takes part in legislative advocacy efforts in connection with the state's film tax credit program and other legislative matters that may affect SAG-AFTRA members.
• Works collaboratively and in coordination with all SAG-AFTRA national departments.
• Ensures compliance with all human resources and organizational policies.
• Promotes a culture of excellence and collaboration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Advanced level of management experience and demonstrated leadership skills required to effectively manage and develop a team and individual contributors.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills in order to explain complex subject matter, promote collaboration and teamwork, build consensus, and persuade others.
• Demonstrated negotiation and/or collective bargaining skills and fundamental knowledge of federal labor law.
• Responsible; self-directed; pro-active; excellent follow-through.
• Effective problem solver.
• Able to mediate disputes and negotiate with tact and diplomacy.
• Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact. Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, both internally and externally.
• Have an understanding and awareness of workers' rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members.

• Must be able to work in a challenging environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA's sole discretion.
• Must be available and willing to work extended hours per day or per week (and/or overtime for applicable non- exempt positions), including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
• Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
and/or Experience:
• Undergraduate degree in relevant field from an accredited college/university and 3-5 years applicable executive experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in labor negotiations, labor organizations, and/or not-for-profit administration.
• Experience and knowledge of entertainment and/or music industry issues affecting creative artists and professional workers strongly preferred.
