Rodale is currently seeking an Integrated Advertising Sales Manager for the Runner’s World and Bicycling brands, comprising the world’s leading running and cycling magazines, websites, and branded events. Based in our Chicago office, the Integrated Advertising Sales Manager will maximize profitability through a passionate understanding of our brand and audience, effective planning, outstanding selling skills, and efficient use of marketing and support services. Our ideal candidate would work as part of a fast-paced, creative team that generates print, online and event sponsorship revenue through a strategic selling process. Strong print, digital sales experience and proven communication, selling and negotiation skills are a must.
Responsibilities
include:
• Exceed sales goals by prospecting and selling print, digital and event advertising to a dedicated territory
• Demonstrate a passion for running and cycling that translates to key sales opportunities for advertising prospects
• Effectively communicate with all decision-makers, gatekeepers and influencers ranging from senior management to junior media planners
• Possess the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and advertising agency personnel
• Prioritize sales opportunities through a detailed account planning process
• Constant communication and collaboration with Rodale corporate advertising sales and marketing team to maximize opportunities for Runner’s World and Bicycling participation in multi-brand programs
• Comprehensive understanding of direct and programmatic digital advertising landscape, from desktop and mobile media opportunities, to social media, to emerging trends in technology
• Develop detailed quarterly and annual business plans in order to achieve sales benchmarks
• Provide management with weekly sales updates and monthly financial progress reports
• Frequent in-territory travel to client offices for meetings/presentations
• Hosting of client entertaining events focused on group running and cycling outings
The ideal candidate will possess:
• 4-year college degree
• 4 years of successful media sales or advertising agency experience focused on media planning
• Professional presence with highly developed phone, written and interpersonal presentation skills
• Understanding of magazine production, budgeting, forecasting procedures
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively and persuasively in pressured sales environment
• Enjoy being part of a team, but willing to take a leadership position and make independent decisions as needed
• Demonstrate effective and creative use of marketing and research for proposals and presentations
