REBEL MAVERICK seeks an experienced executive to join the team as President, Production & Development. The position will help oversee all production and development for the company. The executive will be based in Los Angeles and report to the Founder.
The President, Production & Development will be responsible for supervising and managing all aspects of physical production and creative development for series, MOWS, miniseries, pilot productions, feature films, and documentaries, including production planning, crew staffing, scheduling, budgeting, principle photography, and post-production.
In addition to managing the day-to-day operations, the President, Production & Development will work closely with the creative and production team, ensuring the best possible production process with all parties. The position will employ the help of freelance talent and should have an extensive list of contacts they can utilize on a project basis. Specifically, the President, Production & Development will be responsible for the following:
- Work closely with the Founder and Creative and Production Team(s) to successfully realize the vision of the each show and film.
- Effectively communicate with other Producers, Showrunners, Directors (for film) in the execution of their duties.
- Review production budgets, schedules, and planning documents.
- Supervise all aspects of production and development and develop effective procedures and systems to keep productions and development running smoothly.
- Teaming with Co-Productions, Third Parties, and Acquisitions staff to support co-production and reformatting efforts.
- Successfully negotiate deals with new Producers/Third Party Production Service Companies.
- Continually monitor all projects in progress with regard to schedule, budgets, update meetings, etc.
- Solve budgetary issues while maintaining the creative integrity of the project.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Provide daily supervision for Production Supervisors, Managers, and Production Coordinators for feature films and television series.
- Review Production Reports, Hot Costs, and Cost Reports on a daily basis.
- Stay abreast of new developing digital production technologies, work flows, and new cameras.
- Writing notes on project drafts and cuts.
- Reading and evaluating current and potential project scripts.
- Attending pitch meetings.
- Overseeing lists of potential directors, writers, and cast for projects.
- Acquisitions tracking and screening attendance.
- Competitive project tracking.
- Creation and maintenance of internal documents and reports and data analysis.
- Support Founder in the day to day development and production of the company's slate of feature films and television series.
- Oversee the EVP, Development & Production and VP, Development & Production.
- Work closely with writers, producers, directors and third party production entities that Rebel Maverick partners with.
- Provide support to executives on projects prepping, in production, and post-production
- Work with executives to create and develop new ideas: cover film, publishing, news, the internet and other media to generate ideas for film, and contribute on an on-going basis to the development process.
- Able to travel both domestically and internationally when required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The President, Production & Development must have experience in scripted television and feature film development. Prior success in developing and overseeing television and film projects is required as well as the following:
Bachelor's Degree.
- 2+ years experience of entertainment administration and/or development experience, preferably at a production company, management company, or agency.
- At least 1 year of experience as a CE, story editor, or other full-time development position.
- Desires a career as a film or television producer or studio executive.
- Strong interest in independent cinema, international cinema, and emerging writers, directors, and actors.
- An interest in the future of film and television.
- Awareness of key industry players (agencies, management companies, studios, networks, and production companies).
- Web-savvy; familiar with online video environment, social media, new media, etc.
- A strong understanding of the television and film development process and working familiarity with the various entertainment guilds and unions for film and TV including without limitation: SAG-AFTRA, WGA, PGA, DGA, and IATSE.
- A high integrity level and passion for, and caring about, the quality of projects the company produces.
- Experience building and working as a part of a cohesive team.
- Flexibility and the ability to perform effectively under stress and meet deadlines.
- The ability to work at the strategic level as well as operating day-to-day activities.
- Extremely goal-oriented with the ability to prioritize.
- Excellent communications and relationship skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30% of time and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice.
