*LEAD ASSISTANT EDITOR*
Looking for an experienced Lead AE for a state-of-the-art theatrical and entertainment marketing agency creating revolutionary full-service campaigns for prime-time television networks and major Hollywood studios in Burbank, CA.
Potential candidates should have a prior background as a Lead AE with experience in the following areas:
Avid Media Composer 8, Picture & Audio preps, ISIS Client Manager, Digital Finishing, Digitizing media, Standard audio/video codecs, Dialogue Breakdowns, Dailies Assemblies, VFX stringouts, and more (see below).
Essential Responsibilities
• Serve as a liaison between the Post Production Supervisor and the AE team.
• Complete picture / audio preps for offline spots and trailers.
This includes: picture overcut with approved sources, 2-pop, check length, overcut, collapse and deconstruct picture, add source info burn-in, check against safety, address any issues found, export QT, output Avid Bin and EDLs and export Video AAF
• Accurately relay any info needed for picture and audio sources, graphics, voice over used in spot or trailer via emails and lists? to include screenshots and spreadsheet.
• Full upres & overcut for online spots finishing in-house. This includes: frame rate, aspect ratio, resizing shots.
• Familiarity with tape layoffs and quality control for tape formats such as: D5, HDCam and DigiBeta.
• Create off-camera Dialogue stringouts, dailies stringouts, visual effects stringouts, voice over tags strings, VFX & dialogue lists.
• Final exports to specifications and quality control. Final delivery to correct recipients via preferred methods such as Wiredrive, Ci Media Cloud, PIX, 5th Kind, etc.
• Organization and cleanliness of the Finishing Avid projects, Avid stations, and hard drives
• Content security of client sources on hard drives, ISIS and edit bays
Qualifications & Skills
• Minimum [1-2] years experience as a Lead AE with Avid Media Composer 6.5 - 8 - / ISIS Client Management workflow
• Minimum [1-2] years post-production experience at a trailer house.
• Experience with Trailer, TV spot, TV promo, internal sizzle finishing.
• Strong understanding of frame rates (23.98p, 29.97i, 59.94p), timecode (drop frame, non drop frame), aspect ratios (1.33, 1.78, 1.85, 2.39), resolutions (960x540, 1280x720, 1920x1080), Video scanning (interlaced vs. progressive), and color spaces (rec709 16-235, RGB 0-255)
• Strong understanding of audio bit depth (16bit, 24bit), sample rate (44.1kHz, 48kHz), codecs (AAC, Linear PCM), common track layouts (stereo, 5.1, split), and audio formats (WAV, AIF, mp3, m4a)
• Knowledge of digital video codecs including DNxHD, ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 4444, h264, Photo JPEG and bit rates (ex: 6Mbit/s vs. 100Mbit/s)
• Experience with video conversion tools (QuickTime Pro, MPEG Streamclip, Content Agent, Compressor 4) and strong understanding of the .mov and .mp4 wrappers
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as FTP Clients (Cyberduck, Transmit, Aspera)
• Ability to work under high-pressure situations with tight deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and dedication to assigned tasks.
• Professional attitude with a personable demeanor.
• Enjoys working on a team.
