Full Time Unpaid Internship
Pixar's Production Support Engineer team (PSE) connects with almost every group at the studio working to diagnose and problem-solve issues for users on GNU/Linux-based desktop platforms. This requires us to be responsive and collaborative, to maintain clear, open communication and prioritize a complex workflow, all under constantly changing conditions. Some of the things we work with every day: Fedora/RHEL/CentOS, rpm/yum, Xorg, Gnome, desktop hardware, Git, Python, shell scripts, device drivers, nfs, ssh. We are looking for an intern who is passionate about delivering excellent support and providing technical solutions to our users who create great movies. QUALIFICATIONS:
• Familiarity with UNIX-like operating systems (e.g. Linux and FreeBSD)
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate pretty technical concepts in laypersons terms
• Ability to process and concisely share relevant information in a timely fashion
• Have a knack for being able to prioritize, respond to, report on and complete multiple requests
• Ability to work under or behind desks and in server rooms
• Ability to lift and manipulate objects weighing up to 35 lbs
ELIGIBILITY:
• Must be at least a junior in college working towards a Bachelor's degree or greater; Recent grads who are within one year of graduation are also eligible to apply
• Must provide a short personal statement (200 words or less) explaining why you are specifically interested in production support engineering at Pixar
• Must be available to work full-time Mon - Fri for 12 week period from June 2018 to August 2018
