Role Summary
The Data Analyst plays a crucial technical role in the Development operations team. He/she serves in the analysis of fundraising data through data mining and modeling to improve philanthropic productivity as well as, contributing to fundraising business intelligence decisions. He/she is responsible for translating business objectives and metrics into analytics solutions and to summarize and translate key findings and solutions to relevant fundraising departments. He/she will create statistically based solutions and offer important insights into patterns, trends or other metrics among our various constituents/members.
Responsibilities:
• Identifies and prioritizes information/reporting/analysis needs in collaboration with the Senior Director of Development Operations and the Director of Prospect Management
• Analyze and segment suspect pools for development, as well as target audiences for engagement to maximize results.
• Deliver statistical trend analysis, including performance, forecasting and projection reports on large sets of constituent data from a wide variety of sources
• Present analytical findings to various stakeholders, advising on how to use results to inform business strategy
• In partnership with research staff inform on how to utilize data for strategy and business decisions.
• Maintain the highest standards for in regards to data ethics, accuracy, collection, and transparency in data collection and analysis methodologies
• Oversees data transfer between primary database and other systems
• Utilizes data mining tools and techniques to extract and analyze large membership data sets to generate actionable insights into trends, correlations, etc.
• Provides analysis and reports to the Development team and other data stakeholders to inform fundraising strategies
Experience/ Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree required or combination of education and experience
• Approximately two years of experience in a quantitative or analytics role. Experience using data sets to build predictive models.
• Strong understanding of fundraising principles and models.
• Ability to take charge of tasks and work independently without close supervision
• Proficient with analytics, querying, and visualization tools such as Tableau, Watson Analytics, SQL
• Ability to hold matters in confidence and to handle confidential information with integrity
• Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel is required.
