Complete script coverage (read scripts that are submitted to us in order to be considered as potentially films and then write a short synopsis of the plot as well as comment about what makes the script strong or weak). Interns' opinions on each script will be heard in our Friday Submissions Meetings where about 10 people come together, including our VPs of Sales , Acquisitions, Development, and our CEO. Interns will also be asked to watch films and write up coverage on completed films to see if we would want to acquire them. They help out with our Actor/Actress/Director grids which includes researching specific information about them and calling their agencies to find out their availability to be a part of upcoming projects. They will gain valuable desk experience while covering reception a few times a week-fielding calls and greeting clients. Interns can also track films for Acquisitions-check different online platforms for new projects on the horizon. If interested, they can also shadow our CEO's assistant's desk a few times to gain knowledge on the verbiage of what is needed to be an assistant in the entertainment industry.
Marketing: Attend weekly sales and marketing meetings as well as weekly PNP meeting which includes our Canadian sister company, Pacific Northwest Pictures. Press coverage: check very frequently for news about our titles then compile news into a PDF used to send out to potential buyers and promotes our film.
Update Catalogue: Myriad Pictures creates every year a catalogue with our current projects that we have for pre-sale and some that we have already finished but we are waiting to be sold on remaining territories. For the catalogue we have to make sure all the information is updated and correct, send the necessary changes to the graphic designers and proof read it to make sure everything is perfect. This is a very important material for the sales team. Create marketing briefings and lists of comps for the teaser poster with pictures of posters with similar tone to our movie as an inspiration to the graphic designers. For this matter interns often read the script to understand what kind of poster we should make. Posters, teaser trailers: for every movie we have, we create posters and teaser trailers so that we can bring them to the festivals and markets and the distributors can have a better understanding of the movie they are buying. We work with different agencies that provided us with multiple options to choose from. Social media: post on the company's Facebook and Twitter important news that could bring attention to us and help grow our following base and spread the awareness of our projects. Post the weekend box office on Social Media.
BOTH Development / Production + Marketing interns: Helping the office run smoothly (e.g. answering phones, making coffee, watering plants, keeping office neat and tidy, having a positive, can-do attitude! Film Festivals and Markets: where the majority of the deals are made and where our projects get to be seen for the first time. Tasks include: creating or making sure we have enough supplies of marketing materials (market letters, posters, flyers, catalogues, sending the important info to all our contacts/buyers), creating the buyers lists, keeping track and copy of all the travel info, packing and shipping all the materials on time, etc.
