This position will manage the programming of urban music formats and maintain relationships with outside entities related to these channels. Manage departmental projects and maintain external relationships that support the business.
Primary Responsibilities
• Manage all aspects of music and video programming including the building, programming and scheduling of Urban music channels. Implement existing programming strategies and philosophies to grow usage of the music channels.
• Independently proposes, creates and executes strategic on-screen promotions for Urban formats and drives programming strategy for African-American genres/demographic.
• Key point-person driving the programming strategy and implementation for our Multicultural African-American offering with key MVPD partners. Work closely with Manager of Multicultural Marketing to secure MVPD promotional and marketing support.
• Identifies metrics and performs analysis to define and develop the audience profile for Urban formats. Uses findings to determine the effectiveness of programming and initiatives and relevance to consumer for the platform and genre. This includes understanding usage, competition and lifestyle of core audience.
• Oversee projects within the Programming Department and participate on cross-functional teams with key departments like Content, Marketing, and Ad Sales to help develop unique content and on-screen promotions.
• Owns and manages key music industry relationships and leverages these relationships into content and artist opportunities to support strategic initiatives and tent-pole programs.
Qualifications
• Excellent Music Master Scheduling Software knowledge (or equivalent software); ability to build clocks and refine as necessary
• B.A. or equivalent experience including 5+ years of relevant programming experience in Urban music formats
• Solid project management skills to include excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Strong music industry relationships/contacts
• Complete knowledge of Urban music formats, including the associated culture and lifestyles.
• Well versed in competitive landscape and audience research
