Job Purpose
Mills Entertainment is looking for a touring Lead Wardrobe/Deck Chief for our upcoming production of Chefs: A Sizzling Kitchen Showdown. The purpose of this position is to provide the tour with the technical support needed on the ground including, but not limited to, leading and participating in the set-up and strike of tours costumes and props, running the deck for performances, maintaining and repairing costumes and props, and general support to the rest of the touring crew.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Participate in and direct/supervise local wardrobe and deck crew during load-in and load-out
• Run the deck for performances.
• Assist with quick changes
• Maintain and manage show laundry schedule
• Preset and track costumes and props throughout the show
• Execute and advise on solutions for repairs to props and costumes
• Participate in pre-production, production, and advance calls as necessary
• Assist other departments when necessary or available
• Share in driving responsibilities, operating a passenger van and/or a box truck.
Required Qualifications:
• Must have experience as a stitcher and be able to use a sewing machine
• Must have experience working with tear-away costumes
• Must have at least 2 years of experience touring
• Must have experience working in Union houses, under Union rules
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Must be self-motivated and have strong leadership skills
• Must be able to solve problems when and if they arise
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an outgoing, positive dynamic personality to engage partners and team members
• Able to work varied hours and commit 100% of time for regional travel and work on the road for the entire tour
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must have a valid driver's license with a clean record.
• Must be willing to get DOT certified
Preferred Skills
• Higher consideration will be given to candidates who have a background in theatre
• Higher consideration will be given to candidates with more than 3 years of touring experience
• Higher consideration will be given to candidates that already have a valid DOT certification
Competitive weekly rates. Per-diem, housing, and flights are provided for during technical rehearsals and performances.
