Full Time Job
Deluxe (doing business as Method Studios and Encore Vancouver) performs visual effects and post production services for features, network and cable TV shows. This position will be based out of the Vancouver office and is responsible for managing the human resources department.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop strategic HR initiatives with local and global studios
• Provide leadership, direction and mentorship to local HR team
• Studio partnership
• Partner with global HR teams to roll-out HR initiatives
• Partner with local management team (Head of Studio, Operations, Finance) to develop studio based initiatives
• Partner with Artist Management team to manage long term career development for artists.
• Facilitate, prepare and deliver performance reviews
• Partner with Head of Studio (Method), Director of Operations (Encore TV) and Executive Producers (Encore VFX) to roll out status changes (rate increases, title changes, promotions)
• Review and research market compensation data and relay correspondence to Head of Studio, Head of Production, Recruiting and Artist Management
• Act as representative for all immigration matters concerning the studio, including regular correspondence with government initiatives including Labour Market Impact Assessments, Labour Market Benefits Plan(s) and NAFTA transactions
• Advise hiring management and Recruiting team on strategies and programs that attract, align and retain talent
• Maintain HRIS and work with payroll on status changes
• Maintain current HR policies and procedures; implement new policies as and when required
• Manage annual HR budget and forecast for future requirements for each fiscal year
• Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory development with regards to Canadian immigration, employment standards and tax incentives
• Coordinate internal and external learning and development in concert with L&D representative
• Act as point person for employee relations issues and coach managers on disciplinary action strategies; proactively resolve HR issues and demonstrate innovative thinking by preparing recommendations
• Represent HR as part of Occupational Health & Safety Committee to administer Health and Safety programs
• Ad hoc requests from Corporate and divisional management
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior human resources management role
• Graduate degree in Human Resources management. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• HR designation (CPHR) considered an asset
• Experience in tech or entertainment industry a plus
• Working knowledge of Employment Standards of BC legislation and hiring policies
• Strong knowledge of industry-wide immigration platforms (LMIA's, NAFTA, intracompany transfers)
• Strong analytical and organization skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage a team and interface effectively at all levels of the organization
• Proficient systems skills, especially MS Office Suite/Excel/Word
