Marvel TV is the development and production arm of all live action & animated original series for Marvel. As a division of the world's premiere comic book company, Marvel TV is a pioneer in creative storytelling on the small screen. With over 10 series on air, it is a leading studio within the television space.
The Director, Production Finance will report directly to the VP of Production and Operations. The position will serve as support to the physical production team, with special attention to production & corporate financial reporting on Marvel Live Action TV series. Tracking and updating all cost reports is a major aspect of the position.
Responsibilities
• Perform overall financial analysis of assigned shows with annotations where appropriate
• Evaluate the financial status of productions, by providing both real-time analysis and projections of final costs, as well as estimate the financial impact of creative and production-related by using hot costs, cost reports and all reports available
• When necessary, assist shows that require added help to provide immediate and accurate accounting
• Oversee cost reporting of both production accounting and post-production accounting, as well as search for potential cost savings
• Work with the VP OF PRODUCTION, LIVE TV to provide creative solutions for episodic budget concerns
• Serve as a Marvel point of contact for the show's production accounting department
• Liaison with ABC production finance and infrastructure to ensure that applicable ABC policies are adhered to in conjunction with Marvel TV and ABC Studios requirements
• Assist in creating preliminary series budgets in pre-production
• Provide direction to production accounting department to align with corporate financial reporting expectations
• Use current financial information to create EFC Projections that are submitted to upper management and provide reports to reflect these estimates and where adjustments could be made
• Update and distribute the Episodic Target reports on a weekly basis
• Build and maintain library of guild minimum agreements and as well as interpret above the line contracts
• Provide financial information regarding various shoot locations
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience in production accounting in Live Action TV or Film, or comparable studio/production company experience in production accounting/estimating
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office Suite Programs (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Experience with Movie Magic Budgeting, PSL and Vista Global a plus
Preferred Qualifications
• Self-motivated, highly organized, detail and project oriented work ethic
• Willingness to keep production oriented hours
• Working knowledge of union financial guidelines including: Teamsters, DGA, WGA, SAG-AFTRA, IATSE
• Excellent grasp of episodic TV budget patterns and forecasting
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to organize large amounts of data across multiple productions
• Capacity to think creatively and be self-motivated to find solutions to current problems and future potential issues
• Enthusiasm for elevated genre, comic books or Marvel intellectual property
