The Skilled Craftsman will be responsible for performing high quality finish work at a journeyman level and provide expert project advice.
Job Functions:
• Design, build, install and repair structures and fixtures to a finished and professional level using different types of materials (wood, metal, laminates)
• Perform the installation as well as repairs to both drywall and plaster finishes to a paint ready surface
• Perform installation and continuous maintenance of doors, hardware, millwork ( utilizing staining and other refinishing techniques) to stadium seating, office and suite furniture
• Create temporary door and wall set-ups
• Perform concrete repair, glass and ceramic tile and grout repair, VCT as well as rubber and carpeted flooring repairs
• Hang/move pictures, white boards and corkboards
• Performs daily inspections of building and grounds to maintain facility-maintenance standard
• Maintain applicable documentation and records of repair and maintenance
• Accurately estimate project material costs and labor on a line-item basis, and plan for strategic and cost effective alternatives for budgeting and other facility guidelines
• Meet with potential contractors to consult regarding capital projects and offers input related to the day-to-day operation of the facility
• Assist with maintenance of equipment related to HVAC, Electrical and plumbing as necessary
• Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to professional standards, building policies and Cal/OSHA regulations
Basic Requirements/Qualifications:
• High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of four years of progressively responsible building trades experience
• Valid driver’s license and commercial driver’s license
• Extensive knowledge of stationary shop power and hand tools such as ARC, MIG and TIG welding and brazing preferred
• Working knowledge in operation of hand powered tools and light construction equipment (e.g., forklift, Genie Lift, skid loader)
• Knowledge of laminates and steel stud framing
• Solid understanding of commercial construction practices
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff, guests, promoters, clients, corporate partners, suppliers and contractors
• Demonstrate integrity and strategic thinking
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work at high elevations
• Possess ability to calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages
• Able to read and comprehend manuals, blueprints, sketches, and drawings
• Ability to complete work orders and other related documentation
• Ability to take initiative and work well under minimal supervision
• Ability to perform multiple tasks at one time, meet tight deadlines and function under stress
• Able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended workdays and extended number of consecutive days as needed
