Full Time Unpaid Internship
Angels Baseball is looking for resourceful and eager candidates to fill Internships in the following departments for the duration of the internship year starting as early as January of 2018. Actual start dates vary based on the department.
• Sponsorship Services
• Marketing
• Media Relations
• Community Relations
• Special Events
Interns are paid hourly in the program and will work up to 40 regular business hours per week for up to a year. Applicants must be able to work flexible and some unusual hours during the team’s season including nights and weekends. Listed below are brief descriptions for the various departments:
Sponsorship Services
The Sponsorship Services Intern will assist the Corporate Sales and Sponsorship Services Department in ensuring adherence to sponsor contract provisions, including monitoring merchandise inventory, execution of promotions and planning/execution of special events, which includes game day responsibilities; act as a sponsor contact responding and fulfilling any request made by the sponsor; maintain records for all sponsor activities, tasks and accomplishments; assist Corporate Account Executives with assembling client presentations; and assist with general operation of the Sponsorship Services Department. Intermediate working knowledge of PowerPoint and previous experience with Photoshop is a plus.
Marketing
The Marketing Intern will be responsible for assisting with and executing promotional campaigns and giveaways designed to increase brand awareness and generate revenue. The eligible candidate will be required to proofread collateral and copy, participate in brainstorming sessions, and adhere to all brand guidelines in order to effectively promote and communicate marketing objectives throughout our organization and in-market. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; Managing projects related to marketing collateral and stadium signage; Assist with Kids Club Membership registration and fulfillment; Assist with creating copy for radio and TV; Track website and digital application updates; Prepare and assist with the execution of various marketing events and initiatives including but not limited to pre and in-game amenities, themed weekends, post-game movies, Family Sundays, Fan Appreciation Day and more; Create comprehensive recaps for events and giveaways; Support Marketing staff with administrative duties
Community Relations
The Community Relations Intern will work closely with the Angels Chairman and the Senior Director of Community Relations in organizing programs and charitable fundraising events such as the 5K & Fun Run; assist with community outreach programs, kids Holiday Party at ESPN Zone and Angels Baseball Foundation fundraisers; sort, and process fan mail; handle message requests for the scoreboard; and handle various administrative tasks. The Community Relations Intern will also coordinate monthly donations, handle merchandise requests, and coordinate the Angels Brick Program as well as coordinate grant requests for Angels Baseball Foundation.
Media Relations
Primary responsibilities for the Media Relations Intern will include maintaining and distributing daily newspaper and magazine clips, daily gathering, preparation and dissemination of pre-game information including rosters, lineups, game notes and releases. The intern will: assist with press box game management; participate in writing and production of publications and organizing photographs; work with media staff in notifying media members of breaking news and handling daily media written correspondence and fan/media phone inquiries; handle extensive statistical research projects for media and coaching staffs; and work with Publications Manager and Broadcasting Manager on occasion.
Special Events
The Special Events Intern will work directly with the Director of Special Events to provide seamless customer service to internal and external special event clients; create and oversee event memos and event setup; create event diagrams in accordance with Angel Stadium space and rental requirements; execute settlements once the event is completed; conduct site visits for potential and contracted clients; execute pregame special events inside Angel Stadium; execute non game-day events at Angel Stadium; maintain client files; assist in client email and phone correspondence; and assist in online marketing related to special events.

• Proficient in complete Microsoft Office Suite
• Very strong attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and problem solve
• Strong teamwork aptitude required
• Ability to work long, flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
