Based in our New York office, Fuse Media is currently seeking an experienced broadcast engineer to ensure that all technical aspects of post-production run smoothly. This role helps to support a wide range of broadcast digital video solutions and equipment, including everything from simple digital video servers and desktop editors to complete media asset management systems networked across multiple locations. The ideal candidate is passionate about emerging technologies, tenacious when problem solving, and eager to work in a diverse media environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Technical backbone of the Broadcast Operations department to keep post production, media management, and media archiving running efficiently
• Oversees the installation and testing of new hardware and software used for editing or archiving
• Analyzing and repairing technical faults in equipment and systems, including minimizing loss of service when equipment fails by identifying and implementing alternative methods of service
• Works closely with Broadcast Operations department to develop and implement best practices as well as maintain documents relating to technical specifications and standard operating procedures
• Communicate clearly with departments across the organization to make sure media needs and expectations are met in a timely manner
• Support the training of end users
• Serve as primary liaison to contracted integrators and maintain strong relationships with vendors
• Build and foster relationships with various equipment providers for updated workflows, systems, and enhancements
Qualifications:
• Intimate knowledge of non-linear editing systems including Adobe Premiere and Avid
• Experience with MAM workflows and systems (experience with CatDV, SGL, and Spectralogic products a plus)
• Experience with Telestream Vantage transcode workflows
• Keen understanding of the media asset lifecycle from recall/ingest/acquisition to distribution and archive
• Demonstrated ability to manage Quantum as a SAN and NAS video server; Isilon experience a plus
• Demonstrated ability to support, configure and specify Mac/PC edit systems
• Direct experience managing, installing and supporting related hardware components and peripherals
• Experience managing, supporting and configuring Aspera products
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, perform accurately while under pressure, and juggle multiple projects at one time
• Comfortable with digital file formats, codecs, protocols, tape decks, racking, and cabling
• Excellent and demonstrable written, verbal and documentation skills
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Comfortable with networking fundamentals (ethernet, fiber channel, SAN/NAS, WAN/LAN)
• Experience with Linux-based operating systems a plus
• Must be a proactive and motivated self-starter that isn't satisfied with the status quo
• Must be always looking to learn about new technologies and finding ways to extend existing technology investments
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds varying distances
