Full Time Job
Our team is part of a corporate shared service that provides infrastructure, systems architecture, and technical operations support for all consumer facing ESPN applications and services. You will have the opportunity to work on key projects related to all sporting events like March Madness, manage fantasy football apps, various micro sites specific to business needs, as well as managing digital content on web, mobile, and tablet devices. We collaborate closely with ESPN development teams and various Disney technical teams to provide robust, distributed and scalable solutions consisting of Disney and ESPN proprietary software and services, commercial and open source software. The team is also responsible for platform configuration management, capacity management, site reliability, application support, monitoring, and Tier 2 incident response.
With a cloud first mentality, we are heavily invested in our efforts to continue migrating legacy systems into AWS, scrubbing outdated servers, and ensuring the health of the entire infrastructure is in tip top shape with a heavy focus on load balance testing. We are also responsible for planning and executing integrations into complex data center and cloud environments in an efficient, secure, scalable, reliable and cost effective manner. This includes any content delivery systems, hardware configuration, custom software implementation, cloud systems design, performance and process improvement, and systems documentation.
Basic Qualifications
• 6 years of experience supporting and/or deploying internet-based products or services
• Expertise in deploying, tuning and supporting web server platforms on Linux platforms
• Intermediate to advanced scripting skills with Ruby or Python
• Firm understanding of Amazon Web Services-based hosting and management
• Experience in configuring, deploying, and supporting web server platforms (Varnish, Tomcat, Apache, PHP, Zend)
• Detailed knowledge of core internet and networking protocols including, but not limited to TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP
• Exposure to configuration management tools (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, CFEngine)
• Experience with enterprise load balancers (F5, NetScaler)
• Experience using monitoring platforms like Nagios, Zenoss
• Exposure to HTTP methods and status codes
• Experience working with VCS like GitHub, SVN, Perforce
Preferred Qualifications
• 8 years or more of experience supporting web-based products or services
• Advanced Ruby and/or Python programming skills
• Expertise with Web Caching or Load Balancing technologies such as HAProxy, Varnish, memcached, and nginx
• Expertise in monitoring platforms such as Sensu, Nagios, OpenNMS
• Experience working in a DevOps capacity with Agile methodologies
• Experience with VCS like GitHub, SVN, Perforce
• Continuous Deployment mechanisms and integration tools
• Experience managing site content and configuration via CDN providers
• Experience with web application development platforms, tools and utilities including Java, JSP, ASP, PHP, JavaScript, and Flash.
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related experience
