Job Description: Production Clearance Analyst, Content Rights Management

Basic Function:Primary front-line liaison with Production to provide knowledge and guidance on which programming and/or program elements are cleared for air and which programming and/or program elements must be removed and replaced with alternate content. Duties and Responsibilities:• Responsible for managing the video restrictions and rules related to all programming, program elements and footage scheduled to run on ESPN networks.• Coordinate in advance with Production, Programming and other members of Content Rights Management to anticipate and plan for upcoming programming and events that will require removing and/or replacement of uncleared content.• Reside in the newsroom or “scrub room” as appropriate and remain in close contact with relevant show units, Content Rights Management, and the Assignment Desk.• Continually monitor program rundowns and be aware of breaking news situations for assessment of uncleared content.• Provide constant guidance to the “scrub room” PA’s as to which content needs to be removed and/or replaced and which alternate content may be appropriate.• Maintain accurate logs of which programming and/or program elements have been removed or replaced.• Learns ESPN’s content ingest and Esheets footage usage tracking procedures; reviews ENPS and Esheets entries for accuracy and for uncleared content.• Develops a solid understanding of ESPN programming and production procedures, plus specific sport rules, by utilizing available resources on a daily basis.• Able to understand all programming and production changes and how those affect our schedules and be able to adjust accordingly. • Assists the Content Rights Management team on clearance-related projects, research & analysis. Preferred Qualifications:• College degree in Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, or related field of study• Strong organizational & analytical skills, attention to detail, and computer acumen.• Familiarity with a newsroom and/or live TV production environment Required Qualifications:• Minimum of 1 year television programming or production experience• Demonstrates a strong, broad knowledge of sports & the sports industry• Must be willing to perform am/pm shift work and/or work weekends in a 24/7 environment.ESPN, Inc., is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
