The Professional Development Content Manager will work collaboratively with all members of the Professional Development Content Team to design and oversee development of Discovery Education Professional Development content.
The Professional Development Content Manager collaborates directly with customers to understand their needs and design strategic and innovative solutions. The position leverages internal experts as well as credible research to identify course opportunities, design solutions and enhance existing course offerings. The manager will guide and mentor independent contractors who build professional development materials. Completed work will be reviewed to ensure the product meets the Discovery Professional Development brand, conforms to marketing guidelines, and is effectively organized and accessible to the professional development implementation team.
The Professional Development Content Manager will work collaboratively to ensure Professional Development Specialists are appropriately trained, and will attend PD delivery to evaluate the quality and flow of developed content. The Manager will also ensure the Partnerships team has the appropriate collateral to promote positive sales conversations.
Responsibilities

Oversee and Support Content Developers and Project Managers
1. Recruit, train, mentor and oversee the work of independent contractors dedicated to professional development content
2. Support PD Content specialists and trainings to build common understanding of course/content offerings, policies and guidelines
3. Participate in and support the planning and implementation of training for PD specialists and to ensure a deep level of course/content knowledge
Content Design and Development
1. Direct the development of course content for all Discovery Education products and services
2. Oversee all content development quality assurance activities including course review and final editing
3. Collaborate with key stakeholders to recommend new courses/content and revises existing courses/content to reflect best practices, educational research, and key initiatives
4. Seek out and respond to feedback from key stakeholders
5. Ensures courses are engaging and meet the Discovery Education Professional Development brand
Partner and Communicate With Internal and External Stakeholders
1. Interface directly with partners to understand their needs and goals, and develop PD Content solutions that meet those needs
2. Build strong relationships with partners, independent contractors and internal experts
3. Keep key internal and external stakeholders informed on progress regarding content development projects
4. Merchandize completed projects to Partnerships, Marketing and Implementation
5. Establish and execute a process for regular internal communication of the PD Content pipeline
Lead and Project Manage Development of PD Content
1. Develop and lead a team of PD Content development specialists and project managers
2. Ensure all content requests are entered and progress notes maintained in Discovery Education’s Content tracking tool
3. Effectively match qualified independent contractors to content development activities
4. Ensure all professional development materials are effectively organized and accessible to key stakeholders
5. Adhere to and manage budget
Requirements
* Minimum Master’s degree in education or related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
* 6-8 years educational experience in the K-16 setting
* Content and instructional expertise with a solid understanding of adult learning practices
* Experience developing, writing and editing professional development materials and embedding digital media into instruction, and
* Exceptional project management skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
* A self-starter with a strong work ethic, who can work independently, or as a member of a team
* Comfortable in a fast-paced, technology-based environment with the ability to handle multiple projects
* Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work with diverse perspectives, and facilitate consensus under challenging circumstances;
* Expert experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel
* High attention to detail with demonstrated analytical skills and ability to detail proposed solutions
* Ability to work flexible hours
* 50% travel required with variations due to professional development partnership needs.
