For over 30 years Discovery, the world’s #1 pay-TV programmer, has been satisfying curiosity and entertaining viewers with high-quality content through its global brands. We are seeking an Editor to produce and edit original video content – short and mid-form – for social and the Discovery Go offerings working with existing channel assets including the extensive Discovery library. The ideal candidate must possess strong Premiere Pro and Avid skills, motion graphics, and creative storytelling chops to create numerous shows of varying formats. In addition, we’re looking for someone with a high-level of self-sufficiency, strong collaboration & communication skills and able to adapt to changing show styles, schedules and feedback. This role will be responsible for producing and editing content and social across the Discovery portfolio of network brands: Science, Animal Planet, Discovery, TLC, ID, Velocity, AHC, Destination America and Discovery Life.
Responsibilities
1. Produce and edit short and mid-form video content for social and all the Go offerings
2. Ability to utilize existing channel assets including the channel library
3. Work closely with the social producers and original content teams for direction and to address any creative and QC revisions
4. Capture, source and animate additional images, video and assets as needed
5. Select appropriate music & sound effects and prepare final audio for export
6. Archive, organize and template projects to streamline production as necessary
7. Communicate and set appropriate internal expectations based on the scope of each project
8. Work on special promo initiatives, remote event coverage or other duties as assigned
9. Meet deadlines according to show teams' publishing schedule
Requirements
* Minimum of 3-5 years experience in broadcast and/or web video production
* Must be able to provide recent examples of work
* High proficiency with: Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Adobe Media Encoder, Plural Eyes, Avid or Final Cut Pro
* Highly creative, organized and able to work independently with little direction
* Excellent motion graphic skills and promo editing
* Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
* Comfortable working in a fast paced, every changing production environment
* Strong knowledge and experience with different video formats, codecs, frame rates, audio compression, and standards for web video
* Legal right to work in the United States
