Seeking a Rigger experienced in circus rigging for live entertainment productions at Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort, Villages and Spa.
We are accepting applications from riggers based in Canada, USA and Europe.
Contract dates: Nov 1, 2017 - July 31, 2018.
All candidates must be available for the full duration of the contract.
All candidates must have a valid passport to travel internationally.
Responsibilities:
Manage rigging operation related to 4 shows (50 min each); each show performed twice a week;
Manage all aspects of artistic and structural rigging of the stage during setup, performances and tear-down;
Safely operate rigging systems and related equipment for performances, rehearsals, artist training, and maintenance;
Ensure the safety and security of rigging equipment at all times;
Provide advice, recommendations and information on any safety issue related to working above the ground;
Develop, implement and ensure adherence to a rigging equipment safety inspection program;
Ensure that rigging and staff adhere to standards and regulations pertaining to the safety of rigging equipment and comply with safe working methods;
Inspect and maintain all rigging equipment and keep records of inspections and modifications;
Maintain the rigging inventory, technical documentation and customs documentation;
Conduct research, order and purchase new and/or replacement equipment;
Coordinate activities during the setup and tear-down of rigging equipment;
Execute setup and tear-down;
Assist as a stage hand backstage during the shows;
Attend meetings with the project team;
Perform all other job related duties as requested.
Qualifications:
College diploma (or equivalent) in live entertainment or theatre production (or equivalent work experience);
At least 5 years of experience in theatrical and/or circus rigging, including experience with aerial/human rigging;
Internationally recognized certificate/license;
Professional liability insurance;
Technical knowledge of rigging equipment;
Good general understanding of all basic technical aspects of a show;
Knowledge of basic structural loads and forces;
Ability to work at heights;
Formal fall protection training, competency training and overall safety training;
Flexibility, autonomy, team player;
Good communication skills;
Ability to handle contingencies and work well under pressure;
Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
