Aviron Pictures is an independently financed Los Angeles-based entertainment company specializing in the marketing and distribution of feature films in the U.S. and Canada. Our mission is to acquire, market and distribute a diverse slate of talent and story-driven theatrical film releases that feature distinct audience appeal in North America. The studio is managed by a team of respected and successful Hollywood veterans, and collaborates with experienced filmmakers to shepherd their motion pictures to the screen and on through domestic home entertainment and ancillary markets. This past summer, Aviron spearheaded the theatrical marketing of the indie hit 47 Meters Down, before distributing Kidnap, a suspense-thriller starring Academy Award winner Halle Berry. Other films on Aviron's slate include writer/director Fred Wolf's comedy Drunk Parents starring Salma Hayek and Alec Baldwin, The Strangers: Prey at Night, a horror film inspired by 2008's hit The Strangers, and Three Seconds, an action thriller from the producer of Sicario and Wind River, starring Joel Kinnaman, Rosamund Pike, Clive Owen, Common and Ana de Armas.
Aviron is looking for exceptional candidates who can commit 2-3 days a week for hands-on internships in the below departments:
Acquisitions: Responsible for tracking, organizing, and filtering through all of the prospective project materials that come through the office. Some duties of this department include reading scripts and writing coverage, participating in weekly Acquisitions meetings, and attending screenings.
Publicity and Promotions: Responsible for spearheading the strategy and execution of publicity, promotional and social media campaigns for each of Aviron's films, including developing media and consumer-facing positioning and messaging, generating publicity/promotional/social assets, managing media relations and partnerships across mainstream and digital outlets, overseeing third-party marketing partnerships, producing events - including press junkets, premieres, publicity stunts, and our films' presence at film festivals and conventions - as well as liaising with talent and filmmakers.
Research & Strategy: Responsible for using audience feedback and data throughout the life-cycle of a film to help create and develop a cohesive strategy for how to most effectively position and sell it. This involves understanding how similar movies have performed, which audience groups enjoy the movie most, who is most likely to buy a ticket and which elements of the movie are most likely to appeal to these core target groups.
Interns responsibilities may also include general office duties in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates should be passionate about film, detail-oriented, have a professional demeanor and be able to work well under pressure and with absolute discretion. Prior experience of any kind in film marketing is a plus. The position is unpaid and candidates must be eligible to receive college credit. To apply, please send resume and cover letter letting us know the department of interest and with subject line 'Spring 2018 Internship Program.'
