POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to City Parks Foundation's Director of Arts Operations, the General Manager, Central Park/Rumsey Playfield is a full-time/year-round/salaried position, starting immediately.
The position oversees all aspects of venue management and event production at SummerStage's Rumsey Playfield temporary, outdoor venue, including venue build and take-down, and the production of 50 performances as part of the SummerStage Festival, plus 25-30 rental events, all taking place between April and October. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all venue details including staff supervision, budgeting, scheduling, production, and security and for developing and enforcing operating procedures for all aspects of the venue as described below. Most important, the General Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe and positive experience for all who enter the venue to participate in a performance and for setting a joyful and collegial tone amongst the staff.
The General Manager is responsible for hiring, training, scheduling (including oversight of timesheets and payroll), supervising, addressing discipline and grievance issues, and evaluating the Production Manager and Venue Manager and, with their assistance, all Central Park/Rumsey Playfield staff, including but not limited to: Stage Manager, Production Coordinator, Local 1 IATSE stagehands, site crew, hospitality coordinator, security supervisor, drivers/escorts, and all outside contractors including security, audio engineering, and others.
The General Manager will be an integral member of the team planning for the renovation of the venue and its equipment, which is scheduled to begin in 2018, and will help to plan the future of the venue and its operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
City Parks Foundation is committed to hiring individuals with a demonstrated ability to work effectively both formally and informally amongst a diversity of communities and cultures. For this position, we seek someone who is an energetic and approachable leader who fosters collaboration and a positive work environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in Arts Management, Arts or Business preferred;
- A minimum of six years experience in an arts management position in a performing arts center, music venue, and/or on a major tour - festival/outdoor production experience is a plus;
- Exemplary customer service and communication skills;
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative, is extremely organized and self-motivated;
- Has strong instincts on when to delegate and when to directly implement projects/tasks;
- Ability to creatively problem solve and anticipate needs, particularly under pressure;
- Experience managing direct reports and building complex projects/teams;
- Experience managing budgets;
- Strong administrative skills, must be proficient in office software, preferably Google Apps;
- Willingness to work early mornings, late nights, long days, and weekend shifts, and to work in inclement weather;
- Valid NYS driver's license and clean driving record.
