Full Time Unpaid Internship
Responsibilities As an Intern, you will be embedded with one of our show teams, the news desk or our digital team, and offered the chance to gain hands-on practical experience of various tasks involved in putting together CNBC's output from London. The internship will allow you to learn much about the workings of a news room, make valuable contributions to your department and gain exposure to and knowledge of one of the world's leading financial markets in order to pursue a career in News. Qualifications/Requirements KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Exact responsibilities will vary slightly between each team, however the main responsibilities of any News Intern will include:
• Working with show teams to select and edit video to match news scripts
• Building graphics using CNBC's in-house applications and liaising with the graphics department
• Writing accurate interview transcripts
• Researching stories as directed
• Writing copy for use on various platforms
• Pitching, researching and booking guests
• Basic script writing
• Liaising with internal/external stakeholders at various levels on a regular basis
• Contributing to ad-hoc projects as required
• Maintaining calendar of events, adjusting according to changes in schedules
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
You will ideally be currently studying or recently completed a degree-level or equivalent course, specialising in Business, Finance or Journalism-related subjects, seeking a 12 month internship
Essential
• A passion for Broadcasting and Media (particularly an interest in finance and/or business) with a desire to develop career in News
• Proactive and enthusiastic, with ability to work autonomously to deadlines, take initiative and keep calm under pressure
• Analytical with outstanding attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and ability to effectively prioritise and manage workload
• Self-starter and fast learner, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a busy team
• Strong office administration and IT skills; confident user of Microsoft Office
• Have a sound grip of business terminology
• Have a knowledge of and interest in financial markets and business journalism
• Ability to work with confidential materials discreetly and responsibly
• Excellent communicator (both written and verbal) with strong interpersonal skills; confident in communication with senior management
• Willingness to learn and ''can-do'' attitude
Desirable
• Previous work experience in a similar environment
REQUIREMENTS
• Must be eligible to work in the UK without restriction for the duration of the internship
• Fluent English is essential; additional languages may be useful
