We are currently recruiting a Senior Vice President Legal & Business Affairs based at our international headquarters in Los Angeles. Reporting to the EVP Legal & Business Affairs of CBS Studios International, the SVP Legal & Business Affairs is a key team member of our Legal and Business Affairs team in Los Angeles ensuring legal compliance and optimizing our business objectives and company goals. Applicants must enjoy working in a very fast paced, team oriented atmosphere within a constantly evolving international industry.
Responsibilities:
Driving and securing the best linear and non-linear TV distribution deals possible to help achieve the commercial objectives of the business
Advise senior management in connection with deal strategies and complex business and legal matters
Analyze deal opportunities and formulate business strategies with respect to various television distribution matters
Responsibilities will include working closely with senior management, advising on, structuring, negotiating, drafting, and reviewing for execution a variety of agreements for the licensing and exploitation of CBS, Showtime and The CW content (current and library programming)
Advise and interface with sales, accounting, finance, marketing, and operations teams on all matters
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned and directed by our EVP Legal & Business Affairs
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualification(s):
Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 15 years relevant entertainment/media industry experience in television distribution and transactional legal and business affairs experience
JD degree from top tier US law school and excellent academic credentials
Career to date should have included entertainment and transactional experience with a leading broadcaster, channel provider, TV or video platform, network, motion picture studio or law firm specializing in these areas. The ideal candidate will have experience with both traditional linear and digital media. CBSSI's clients include all of the leading international pay, free and digital broadcasters and/or platforms, such that considerable experience in understanding these businesses will be key
Sound experience advising senior management on legal matters affecting the distribution of television content internationally
Proven track-record of creatively addressing the legal and business issues arising in a multinational media organization
Ability to analyze transactions and risks from a sound pragmatic and commercial perspective, whilst maintaining professionalism and technical expertise
Passion for and practical knowledge of the TV and digital industries and needs to be fully conversant with overall and specific markets in which CBSSI operates to make sound commercial/business judgments
Confidence level and stature to work with and advise senior management
Highly business orientated and commercially aware
Excellent organizational skills - ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
High integrity and judgment in managing confidential / sensitive information
Willingness to work effectively and timely across time zones with colleagues and clients throughout the globe
Foreign languages would be beneficial
