Full Time Paid Internship
The Masters Data Science Analytics Intern will support the CBSSports.com Media Group at CBS Interactive with Business to Business LeadGeneration by analyzing data across multiple systems, to identify both business opportunities as well as systematic inefficiencies. Candidate must be familiar with basic data analytics, methodologies, and platforms. The intern's main project will be the development of a baseline seasonality sport algorithm that identifies a team's success based on game outcomes, statistics, player performance, and injuries. Candidate must be working towards a Masters degree in some computer, engineering, or other quantitive field of study.

At CBS Interactive, our Recommendation and Optimization group has an opportunity to build the next generation of real- time services supporting content customization, user targeting, and multivariate testing. You will work on a large-scale data mining/analysis project – hundreds of thousands of web pages, hundreds of millions of users – to help us develop a deeper understanding of our content, and provide for the possibility of more relevant, personal experience for our visitors. We're looking for a hands-on candidate with a passion for data driven systems and optimization problems. You must be dedicated, self-motivated, and capable of working independently and with a small team.
Logistics:
• Time commitment: full-time, 40 hours per week during our regular office hours (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm) but times may vary per team
• This is a paid internship and can also be for university credit if it meets your university's guidelines
Qualifications:
• Experience with programming in Python
• SQL experience with basic JavaScript knowledge is preferred
• Data-mining/machine learning experience
• Experience with data extraction, manipulation and algorithms
• Must be detail-oriented and focused on data accuracy
• Knowledge of and an interest in national sports is a plus
Additional Requirements:
• Intern must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
• Must be working towards a Masters degree
• Must be at least 18 years old
