An internship at Bank Robber Music would consist of helping in almost every facet of the company.
An intern would be responsible for organizing; assembling and shipping regularly scheduled mailings of music and information to our most important music supervisors. This happens every week or two. That includes creating ''one-sheets,'' which are descriptions of each record that gets sent out. At the end of the semester, interns will use their mailing knowledge for our holiday mailing that will be sent to all of our clients and music supervisors. They will also be responsible for maintaining a number of different shared documents and keeping them up to date. These documents include dates of shows, release dates of records, contact information for both clients and supervisors as well as other information that is important to the company's functions. Interns will also be asked to help with updating aging invoices in our internal database when payments are received.
An intern's duties may fluctuate and change as the semester progresses, but the above is a general idea of some of the tasks that will be expected.
We're looking for a student who is enthusiastic about the music industry, with a specialized interest in the world of licensing and publishing. We work mostly with indie rock bands, so it's always nice when an intern shares our enthusiasm for the acts that we work with (listed on both the Bank Robber Music artist page).
An intern should be very computer literate, with knowledge of the basic Microsoft Office programs (mainly Word & Excel). Knowledge of Evernote is also good, but not required. Owning their own laptop is not required, but they will be able to work on their on computer if its their preference. They will need to know how to work on a Mac, even if they don't own one.
Additonal Comments: Bank Robber Music is a licensing company that creatively pitches, negotiates and places music into Films, TV, video games & ad spots. We represent the master recording rights for some of the most highly regarded independent record labels in the U.S., in addition to a few select independent artists. BRM also facilitates synch licensing for Rough Trade Publishing, a publishing and administration company that currently has a roster of over 300 bands and collectively more than 450 songwriters. By the end of the internship, the intern should have a full understanding of the process in which music is placed into visual media.
