Full Time Unpaid Internship
The Atlanta Dream seeks current college students who have an interest in sports and its field of study. The ideal candidate is trustworthy, honest, and possesses a great attitude. The internships are unpaid (college credit is available), but in exchange for time and effort the Organization offers the opportunity to learn and experience multiple facets of a professional sports franchise.
Description: This is an excellent opportunity to work for a professional sports franchise while gaining or improving upon a wide range of skills in this changing multi-media environment. The Dream seeks energetic, can-do intern to aid the manager and website editor with implementing the interactive media strategies and objectives. This is primarily a technical position, assisting with the creation of new web pages and upkeep of the existing content on AtlantaDream.net and social media sites. This includes some HTML coding, Photoshop, XML, Flash, etc. as well as, using the league's content management system. In this position, you will have the opportunity to learn the importance of performing graphic design pre-press production projects in a timely manner while maintaining the Dream brand at the highest level! Requirements and Duties: Strong graphic design experience required. Working knowledge of Photoshop, Flash and Adobe CS3 Creative Suite (JavaScript/After Effects a plus). HTML and web design knowledge preferred. Strong writing skills. Experience with sports-specific writing and/or broadcasting. Strong organizational skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with basic photography/video. Ability to work with a wide variety of people. Strong communications skills necessary.
Must be a quick learner with a willingness to learn new technologies. Detail-oriented. Ability to multi-task under time constraints. Willing to work ALL Atlanta Dream home games (pre- and post-). Knowledge of basketball preferred.
• Design and update Dream web elements, flyers, forms and brochures
• Design and develop splash pages for internal and external use
• Design various banners/headers for internal and external use
• Resize and compress photos for websites
• Assist with all graphic design Media Relations projects (as needed)
• Assist in social networking site updates
• Interact with fans/users within social networking environment
• Develop relationships with bloggers dedicated to reporting on the team
• Publicize official team initiatives throughout social networking environment
• Upload videos, photos podcasts and other relevant content to social networking sites
• Assist in website updates
• Construct online photo galleries
• Create high-end cut outs of player images to be used for all communication materials throughout the season
• Participate in brainstorming and critique sessions
• Gain experience in preparing mock-ups for proofing
• Assist with the Atlanta Dream e-Newsletter
