Ark Media produces historical, cultural and public affairs documentaries. Founded in 1997 by Barak Goodman and Rachel Dretzin, Ark has produced dozens of hours for FRONTLINE, American Experience as well as the genealogy series with Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. called Finding your Roots.
Ark sponsors an unpaid semester long internship offering participants considerable experience in many aspects of documentary production. There is a $10/day stipend.
Currently we are looking specifically for an intern to work on a project concerning U.S. domestic politics.
Research Interns focus primarily on research and archival work in the office. There may also be opportunities to be on-set for local shoots and interviews. We are seeking reliable, mature, focused and enthusiastic interns for 3-5 days per week for some of the following tasks:
• Research and acquisition of archival materials
• Logging new materials
• Organizing documents in preparation for mastering episodes / films
• Preparing research briefs for producers & story editors to help create content
• Search for documents and records
• Assist in shoot preparation
• Act as on-set Production Assistant
Ark Media strives to provide a solid educational experience with its internship program. The spots are unpaid though a daily stipend is provided. School credit is available where applicable. Interns are closely supervised and taught new skills that are required in our industry. Interns are not used in place of regular employees and we make every effort to provide a beneficial real life work experience that will enhance the intern's ability to gain employment in the field.
