Amazon Studios is seeking a dedicated, self-motivated Senior Business Affairs Manager to focus on the financial strategy of our deals.
Amazon Studios is seeking an experienced head of motion picture marketing and distribution.
Amazon Studios is the original film and television development and production arm of Amazon.com. We have produced and launched 9 series in the last two years, including Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle and Bosch and children's series Tumble Leaf, Creative Galaxy and Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street. Our series have been honored with several awards including the Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series of 2014 and the Annie Award for Best Preschool Series of 2014.
The Amazon Original Movies program recently launched with the goal of releasing 12 films to theaters annually in the United States. These will all be prestige or ''specialty'' films, a segment many Amazon customers enjoy. All Amazon Original Movies will be released in theaters and we intend to support as robust a theatrical run as each movie can sustain, after which the movies will come into transactional video on demand and subscription video on demand on Amazon.
Position Summary:
Senior Business Affairs Manager- Amazon Studios
The business affairs manager will be multifaceted, owning negotiation of deals for talent, writer and other related content and will rigorously evaluate alternate deal structures for the benefit of the Studio. This position will have a strong strategy focus for the financials of our deals. A strong acumen in finance will be key to properly evaluate the contracts signed and identifying opportunities. The role will also require a high degree of cross colllaboration with Creative Development, Production, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, and Legal, as well as Amazon executives outside of Amazon Studios.
A working knowledge of feature film agreements, guild and union regulations, contract law and intellectual property rights (as applicable to the entertainment industry) is required, along with excellent drafting, negotiation, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational and computer skills. Knowledge of digital and SVOD/streaming deal structures is also helpful.??
Must be able to multi-task under pressure, manage a varied, high-volume workload efficiently and smoothly, operate autonomously within corporate parameters and work long hours as necessary. A successful candidate is expected to be able to build strong internal client relationships, effectively advise senior-level executives under conditions of uncertainty, high-pressure and/or high-risk and generate strong client satisfaction through strategic thinking and firm decision-making.
For context, at a traditional television network or studio, this role might be titled ''Vice President or Director, Business Affairs.''

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Science and JD or JD/MBA
• A thorough understanding of entertainment industry customs and practices with 4-6 years in entertainment deal making, representing or working for a major scripted production company or network
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Deep understanding of media business models
• Ability to understand and devise new business models
• Deep interest in technology and innovation
• You must be enthusiastic, enjoy working hard and getting things done, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
