PLEASE NOTE: This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
AFI FEST is looking for volunteers for the Tech Showcase (VR Team) during AFI FEST 2017, which runs November 9-16 in Hollywood.
What is the AFI FEST Tech Showcase:
The goal of the Tech Showcase is to not only broaden the audience at the festival and engage the growing entertainment technology community in Los Angeles, but to also inspire and to create opportunities for collaboration and networking between the art and technology communities.
The Showcase will be a space for festival guests and the public to experience both curated content and sponsored content, and products through activations at the Hollywood Roosevelt.
Who do we need:
We need volunteers who are excited about VR, want to know more about VR or are looking for a fun department to volunteer with.
What you can expect:
Each VR piece will be different but generally your role is to help ensure that our audience is experiencing each piece as the creators intended.
Most of the creators will be on-site to help with training so that you'll understand how to demo each piece. Some of them will around to run their projects and you may be asked to assist. For other stations, you might be demo-ing the projects yourself or with another volunteer. You'll also have the support of Tech Showcase staff.
We'll create an info sheet for each piece so that you'll know your specific responsibilities. These can range from interacting with guests, cleaning equipment between each use, monitoring lines, escorting guests through each space and navigating through the equipment to ensure each piece selected is started correctly.
Each shift will be 4-6 hours and you should feel comfortable standing on your feet for this amount of time.
