The Strategic Communication Division (SCD) at 42West understands the evolving landscape and broad spectrum of today's entertainment industry and the impact of the intersection of tech, business, finance, and culture sectors. From providing targeted messaging and positioning for film and television studios and platform creators, to insightful counsel for legacy media companies to emerging visionaries, business leaders, and change-makers to launching national advocacy programs and providing timely crisis management, we know that our client's business goals are the driver of every strategy.
The PR Account Director for the Strategic Communications Division will serve as a key member of the team working on strategic communication initiatives across multiple client accounts.
Candidates must have a proven record of delivering on strategic and effective communications. Demonstrating their acumen for having a pulse on the rapidly changing macro and micro trends in the entertainment business and media landscape.
You will work across the entertainment, corporate, non-profit sectors, using your innate curiosity and interest in culture, politics, and global news for collaboration. You will need to draw on your expertise of what it takes to have a successful PR campaign, infuse your strong problem-solving skills and have a desire to learn crisis management. To be successful you will need to have excellent project management skills and be able to demonstrate your success at people management and have a working understanding of the client management process.
Additionally need a results-oriented Account Director who has succeeded at being an inclusive, inspirational leader, capable of mentoring junior members of the team.
Just some of the qualifiers for success:
- Strong desire and passion to work in this field
- 6+ years Media relations experience; agency/client experience is a plus
- PR experience required; with corporate communication experience
- Track record of effectively working on communication & media strategies, identifying story angles, pitching outlets, developing messaging & press materials, and securing top-tier coverage for clients
- Professional presence and experience in presenting to clients
- Must possess strong media relationships with an interest in bringing in new clients
- Excellent writing and editorial skills
Duties and Responsibilities
Client Service / New Business / Agency Promotion
- Along with senior leadership, manages multiple accounts and works within a team environment and independently
- Build and maintain strong personal relationships with clients and a clear understanding of a client's business, in order to deliver relevant client presentations and plans
- Earns client's trust by continually meeting deadlines, and providing strategic advise
- Actively representing and pitching clients to the media
- Demonstrates creative and detailed strategic thinking that garners high-profile media results and accomplishes client objectives
You will need to
- Manages time effectively, meet deadlines paying attention to details, and establish priorities for all assignments
- Effectively delegate appropriate work assignments to junior staff
- Continually expand your media and industry contacts through networking and other events
