The Senior Attorney primarily covers non-contentious transactional commercial real estate matters and involves advising on all of the Group's commercial real estate issues (mainly commercial landlord and tenant) throughout the EMEA region including the drafting and negotiation of all associated documentation.
The scope of work includes all aspects of commercial real estate practice from general advice on property management matters to conduct and negotiation on transactional matters including lease acquisitions, renewals and disposals. The role also includes exposure to wider property related matters including general commercial, construction, facilities and planning advice.
The Senior Attorney will support the Principal Counsel, Real Estate EMEA and the Company's US based Corporate Real Estate Team and EMEA based real estate professionals in the management and support of the Company's broad real estate requirements throughout the region.
The Opportunity & Responsibilities:
• Assist with the broad/diverse real estate workload for the EMEA region working closely with the Principal Counsel as well as the Company's in house and external real estate advisors
• Legal advisor on negotiations for commercial landlord and tenant matters and broader commercial real estate aspects of projects
• Providing guidance on any legal issues arising in respect to the business' Property portfolio throughout EMEA
• Monitor applicable legal developments domestically and on a regional basis
• Monitor industry/technology developments
• Strengthen internal and external relationships in ways that benefit the business and develop a deep understanding of the legal and commercial landscape in which Disney operates
• Work closely with the corporate real estate team and all levels of management within the business to ensure timely coordination and negotiation of all matters
• Engage and manage external counsel, where required, to ensure appropriate and timely delivery of advice / input on projects
Deal Management
• Work closely with the Principal Counsel and the US corporate real estate team in negotiating and drafting all commercial landlord and tenant documents. Covers acquisition/renewal and disposal, transactional and litigious matters as well as related general commercial, construction and planning advice. Involves:
The Experience We Require From You:
• Degree-level education in a related field or equivalent work experience
• Proven experience of building effective relationships and managing stakeholders within a large, multi-national, matrix organisation
• Experienced commercial property lawyer. As a guide, 5-10 years PQE, although candidates may be considered outside this banding.
• Detailed knowledge of Commercial Property and Landlord and Tenant Law
• Experience gained both in private practice and in-house, advantageous
• Practical Landlord and Tenant / commercial property experience – non contentious and contentious
• LLB or Degree/LPC
• Qualified as solicitor or barrister
• Experience in ''related'' disciplines of construction, planning and general commercial matters would be useful but not essential
• Extensive drafting and negotiating experience
