Manager Major Gifts - Careers At Sundance Institute
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Manager of Major Gifts is charged with managing new and existing major donor strategies, supporting communications, and cultivating over 100 current and prospective individual donors. This position oversees one employee.
Working closely under the Major Gifts Officer, the Manager supports Sundance Institute's commitment to attracting, retaining, and engaging mission and values-aligned donors to support our work through financial contributions and otherwise.
This full-time position may work remotely from a state of operation, but preference will be given to candidates based in the greater Salt Lake City, UT, New York, NY, or Los Angeles, CA area in order to work onsite in a hybrid capacity throughout the year. Extended hours, including evenings and weekends, and occasional travel to other Institute offices and events will be required.
Top priorities include but are not limited to?
• Managing a portfolio of over 100 current and prospective donors to Sundance Institute.
• Partnering with the Major Gifts Officer to implement renewal and acquisition strategies for individual donors with the potential to make a major gift ($25,000 annually) to the Institute.
• Managing one employee, the Development Coordinator, including training and coaching fundraising best practices, providing clear direction and priorities, and offering support and professional guidance.
• Meeting with donors and prospects to solicit, cultivate, steward, and ascertain their capacity to support Sundance.
• Soliciting renewals and increased contributions from active donors.
• Partnering with Artist Program and Development teams to create engagement strategies for individual donors giving directly to the Institute's programs, including the Catalyst program.
• Stewarding donors and supporting on the ground operations at the annual Catalyst Forum.
• Engaging major and prospective donors at the annual Sundance Film Festival.
• Partnering with the Major Gifts Officer to review and refine major gifts revenue reports, utilizing the data to provide insights on giving trends and developing revenue benchmarks to track progress against goals.
• Reviewing donor crediting, invitation lists, acknowledgment letters, and supplemental materials for accuracy.
• Overseeing management of major donor records and projections in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database to ensure accurate and timely revenue projections.
• Supporting the Annual Giving team with incoming and outgoing donor communications, including during high-volume seasons such as the lead-up to and during the Sundance Film Festival.
• Representing Sundance Institute and the Development team at Institute events.
• Supporting volunteers by helping to provide training and guidance.
You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• 3 years of direct fundraising experience, preferably within an arts nonprofit organization.
• Excellent customer support and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to initiate and cultivate strong relationships that are beneficial to all parties.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording, tracking, and issuing information.
• Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize effectively.
• Outstanding communication skills to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Understanding and interest in Sundance Institute's mission.
• Working knowledge databases along with proficiency in Google Products.
• Experience with prospect research /Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases preferred.

• Implement new fundraising strategies that align with the Institute's work and donor funding priorities.
• Build meaningful relationships with donors and colleagues across the Institute.
• Coach and mentor employees in fundraising best practices and provide professional development guidance.
• Build and execute successful personalized engagement and solicitation strategies for major donors.
• Meet with a minimum of two donors per week for stewardship, cultivation, or solicitation purposes.
• Routinely make requests for increased contributions and new contributions.
• Communicate clearly and prioritize work effectively to ensure time-sensitive responses and deadlines are met.
In addition to an annual salary of $51,000.00 to $63,000.00*, this position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits package, highlights include:

*Final rate of pay is determined based on the applicant's geographic location, relevant experience and skills, and internal equity among similar positions within our organization.
