General Purpose/ Summary
For winter, spring, and summer 2014, one7 communications is offering an unpaid internship position for up to 12 weeks. The primary responsibility of the intern is to learn the job functions of the various positions in the assigned department(s) and complete all required learning objectives as assigned. A mentor will be appointed to whom the intern will meet with regularly to report assignments and ask questions.
one7 communications is fully committed to creating an effective and meaningful internship program for both the intern as well as the organization. In order to reach this desired result, the intern will be provided clear responsibilities as well as learning objectives to fulfill during the program. We understand some schools have set requirements to fulfill course credit, and we are willing to work with those requirements.
I. Duties and Responsibilities
At the beginning of the internship, the intern will be assigned a specific, long-term project that they will take ownership of, to work on for the duration of the experience. This project will vary depending on the needs of the organization as well as the skills of the intern. Other responsibilities assigned on varying frequencies during the internship will include but not be limited to:
Create and maintain media, blogger and VIP/influencer lists
Answer phones, run office errands and filing
Search for media clips and create clip reports
Draft press releases, media advisories and media correspondence
Draft bios, fact sheets and other press materials
Write media pitches and pitch media
Shadow management as they meet with clients, media, influencers and other strategic partners and taking meeting notes, when appropriate
Assist in coordinating special events
Create content for social media platforms
Assist in developing and executing social media strategies including blogger engagement and community management
Write blog content
Research competitor social platforms and making suggestions on how to improve
Brainstorm and present new ideas that pertain to the business objectives of the company and our clients
Read and monitor daily news (local, regional and national) and stay on top of trends
Craft creative story ideas
Research
Update and maintain one7 company overview deck
Draft monthly client reports
Help develop media relations
Assist with a variety of marketing projects for the company
Search for opportunities to place clients in local and national publications
Monitor local, regional and national events for potential client participation
