Accountant

This is a Full Time Job

The Onion News Network is seeking a self-motivated, proactive Accountant for it's video production unit. Applicants will ideally have prior production accounting experience as well as a working knowledge of corporate accounting. This position is ideal for an accountant who wants to get great experience working in a unique operation.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily operations of the Accounting Department.
• Manage the accounts payable & payroll processes / systems.
• Prepare financial statements and other managerial reports.
• Manage external relationships with accounting firm, banker and other vendors.
• Act as the petty cash custodian and allocate, track, and audit expenses.
• Work with Line Producer and Producers to ensure efficient financial management and
alert them of inconsistencies or discrepancies when they occur.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Proven track record of successful work in production and general accounting.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• High mathematical and analytical skills required. Ability to define problems, collect
data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
• Must be able to manage a high volume of work.
• Must be able to work independently and efficiently in a fast paced environment, meet
deadlines and be pro-active in resolving issues.
