Summary:
The Editor incorporates all required versions (from animatics through to final composites) of visual effects shots into the current cuts of live action sequences for the review of Supervisor and Producers. He also maintains a functioning environment where the Visual Effects Supervisor can evaluate any version of any shot in the current sequences for aesthetic and technical direction. The Editor is the liaison between vendor facility and client VFX editorial department.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Receive/process client count sheets and line-up info and translates data into the internal facility shot online database (SHOTGUN)
• Checks plate frames received to guarantee the frames the facility received can indeed complete the shot as intended by the client
• Publish EDL / Quicktimes to our internal dailies system using a GUI interface or command line T-shell script
• Convert Quicktimes to various codec/resolution specs per client or facility needs
• Works with reference footage provided by client / facility to extract frame sequences and send ref to our internal database system
• Works with audio files to provide animation team with sync sound for dialogue/action
• Drive Avid playback for client and internal supervisor review sessions
• Creates Avidref JPEG frame sequences that represent client's creative intent for each shot at correct frame length for final delivery
• Upon show completion assists with how-to/making of shot reels and final archive of shots/sequences to D5 tape
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
• 4-5 years industry experience with Avid Media Composer (including High Definition projects)
• Experienced with using timelines, client media consolidations, Avid effects, titles, etc. to complete work
• Knowledge of Final Cut Pro a plus
• Familiar with Cinesync for client tele-conference review calls
• Knowledge of computer network and operating systems
• Excellent client relation and communications skills
