New York's Emmy Award winning WPIX-TV seeks an innovated and forward thinking News Director. The News Director will have overall responsibility for 33.5 hours of news per week. Responsibilities include managing a news team of editorial, technical and creative talent, managing complex budgets, managing and negotiating collective bargaining agreements and talent contracts. Overall responsibility for news strategic mission and long term project planning, ensuring solid editorial, ethics and production standards, as well as multi-platform content. The successful candidate will have 10+ years overall newsroom experience and 5+ years progressive newsroom management experience. Strong leadership abilities and talent development a must. Excellent collaboration, communication and organizational skills required. The ability to generate innovative solutions and fresh concepts to increase viewership is critical. Strong relationships with community leaders, government officials and newsmakers are essential.
