The Director, Local Social Media Strategy for iHeartMedia creates and executes campaigns that grow engagement, brand recognition, brand affinity, and ultimately drive traffic and revenue. You will work with local and national Editorial, Programming and Marketing teams to execute cohesive and engaging social media strategy for iHeartMedia's 850+ radio station sites across the US.
As the Director, Social Media Strategy you will advise others in the organization regarding brand and social media best practices. In this role, we expect and require urgency, curiosity, creativity and the ability to collaborate with a team. Additionally, you should be someone with excellent communication and strong organizational skills. There are no boundaries to contribution across platforms. Everyone is responsible for contributing ideas across the organization. This is vital to our success.
Required Skills
Develop creative online engagement tactics in cooperation with editorial, programming, sales, and app development teams in support of the marketing strategy and goals, to constantly engage our fan base 24/7, 365 days a year.
Manage iHeartMedia's local social media messages and interactions across all social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, YouTube, Periscope, Meerkat, Pinterest, Tumblr, Google+, Reddit and others.
Weekly social media recap on the week's social media activity. What worked, what we learned, how iHeartMedia and its stations are trending, and anything we should be watching.
Aggressively monitor our direct competitors to identify social strategies that are effective or programming initiatives we should quickly adopt for iHeartRadio.
Respond to breaking news, major news, and music and pop culture events and use those opportunities to introduce new users to the iHeartMedia local ecosystem.
Coordinate the social media planning and enhance our coverage around iHeartRadio tentpole events by experimenting with innovative social approaches, using new social tools to drive engagement. Events include iHeartRadio Music Festival, Jingle Ball, iHeartRadio Music Awards, iHeartRadio Country Festival and iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina.
Required Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with social media or digital journalism.
Knowledge of social networking platforms including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, YouTube, Periscope, Meerkat, Google+, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Reddit.
Proven track record running social for major media outlets.
Superior and persuasive communication skills, including the ability to proofread.
Possess a balance of creativity with good analytical skills.
The ability to work quickly and shift gears on a dime.
A healthy appetite for music, pop culture, entertainment, news and current events. Previous experience within the space preferred.
Bachelor's degree required. A degree in Marketing, Media, Communications or Journalism is preferred.
This position is based in the iHeartRadio headquarters in New York City and reports to the SVP, Digital Content Strategy.
