A boutique independent production company is looking for a Development Manager to help research and develop ideas, formats, and pitch materials for new content; to build relationships and partnerships for the department; and to support and manage productions as needed. Agency experience is highly preferred. Must be experienced with very strong industry relationships. Looking for someone who can wear multiple hats as this person will also assist the distribution team with content delivery and data entry. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, creative, and passionate about television.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Creative support (notes, lists, research, etc.) on projects through all stages of development, production and post
-Design and build decks with a premium aesthetic and prepare pitch materials - loglines, synopses, etc. - to sell concepts to various streaming and other network partners
-Help generate and develop original unscripted formats
-Source and assess screenplays, books, articles, life rights, concepts, sizzles, and short-form content - as well as other forms of intellectual property - in an effort to help build out and sustain a robust pipeline
-Read scripts, script coverage, and additional sourcing of stories and IP
-Filter projects based on what the department can/cannot sell, has the ability to determine what projects have the potential to move forward
-Networking and maintaining relationships with writers, agents, managers and network executives to drive new business
-Solicit and review external pitches for development consideration
-Staying current on network mandates
-Research and clip sourcing for sizzles
-Edit sizzle reels
-Interview potential talent
-Support leaders in resolving issues and executing deliverables
-Support other duties and special projects as assigned by upper management
Qualifications / Requirements:
-2+ years experience working in non-scripted development within a studio, network, or agency
-Attention to detail and ability to research and distill large amounts of information
-Must demonstrate ability to perform tasks under tight deadlines, work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to exercise a high level of discretion in handling confidential information
-Professionalism, discretion, and good judgment in all interactions with co-workers and industry professionals
-A passion for true crime for both unscripted and scripted television is a must\
-Experience in creating decks & one-sheets
-Can write concept paragraphs, and has developed pitching skills
-Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Zoom & Slack.
-Strong proficiency in Photoshop, Keynote and PowerPoint
-Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere or AVID
Preferred Experience:
-Production experience
-Documentary experience
-Prior film distribution experience
-Bilingual
Salary Range: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00
