Full-time in the Theatre Department. The Technical Director of Scenery and Staging Operations Plays a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of scenic construction and coordinates technical elements for departmental productions. Responsibilities include developing construction processes, creating schedules, supervising student crews, maintaining performance and production spaces, and managing production schedules and meetings.
Minimum Qualifications: Entry to the first level within this classification requires one to two years of experience working for a theater, repertory or stock company engaged in the applicable production specialty such as costume construction, stage and set construction, lighting production, and/or sound/audio production. This background normally would be achieved through professional training or applicable college coursework and practical experience.
Required license: California Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Theater or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in theatrical, cinema/TV, or scenic production, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity overseeing production operations.
• Experience operating automated scenery systems, such as fly systems, motorized set pieces or automated rigging.
• Experience with Vectorworks (or similar) CAD software
• Experience with CNC software and equipment or other forms of rapid prototyping (e.g. 3D printing).
• Experience in coordinating and managing multiple productions and projects, including budget preparation, cost analyses, and vendor management.
Salary/Benefits
$4,176.00 - 5,417.00 per month
Anticipated salary will be $4,176 - $5,417 per month plus excellent paid benefits.
