The Online Marketing & Publicity Manager will develop and implement a social media strategy, as well as pitch and secure placements with music blogs, lifestyle sites & music discovery apps for new release audio and video content.
This candidate will focus on blog outreach, contesting, social media engagement, social copywriting and content distribution to drive business by increasing traffic to the company's digital properties & generating sales leads and online conversation & excitement.
Candidate will also need to contribute a high volume of posts on a daily basis across multiple platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, instagram, YouTube, & Pinterest, while having a knowledge and understanding Soundcloud, Wordpress, Tumblr and music / lifestyle discovery services.
Responsibilities include:
• Outreach & pitching of specific content to mainstream online partners (tastemaker and music sites, lifestyle destinations, etc.)?
• Execution of innovative online strategies to maximize consumer awareness and generate excitement for new releases (contests, countdowns, outreach, etc)
• Liaise directly with artists, management and label staff to create a weekly schedule of social activity & determine messaging priorities
• Identify content opportunities and related emerging technologies, while engaging w/new music and lifestyle blogs, as well as music discovery outlets
• Create and execute online marketing and press plans that raise awareness and preference for the Company's / Artist's brand
• Establish and track best practices for each artist' social account with respect to the tone, subject matter, frequency and timing of posts
• Responsible for writing copy for all Wind-up/Artist newsletters, as well as creating and sending newsletters to industry & blog lists
• Set-up live chats with our bands via sounddrop, Reddit, Twitter and other direct to fan outlets
• Manage social media content calendar across multiple platforms (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr to name a few)
• Provide insights gained from social media monitoring to help the Company evolve its strategies in a timely fashion & circulate a weekly analysis of promotions
• Track online community growth, performance, and participation, analyze data and suggest new campaigns based on data
• Plan and track Facebook ads and Google Ads
• Manage yearly SXSW and CMJ events
Desired Skills & Experience:
• 2 years previous work experience w/blog outreach, strategic/social/online marketing
• Proven ability to build and maintain existing relationships with major music outlets online (i.e. Pitchfork, Stereogum, Consequence of Sound)
• Ability to adapt and have alternative plans based on specific artist needs
• Ability to give guidance to artists about best ways to use specific social media sites, while working with them to create a voice for themselves and the label
• In-depth knowledge, passion and understanding of social media platforms and their community members (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc)
• Experience with Next Big Sound, Google Analytics, Hootesuite, FB ads, Topspin, Mailchimp and other newsletter services
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Ability to work independently and to take a given task from inception and see it through to completion
• Must be adept in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), Google Docs
• Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
