The Position
The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the WHBPAC and reports to the Board of Directors. Working with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides leadership and vision to ensure that WHBPAC's mission is achieved and that the organization's artistic, financial, educational, and community service goals are met.
The Executive Director manages the human and financial resources of the organization. S/he is responsible and accountable for all aspects of WHBPAC's operations and administration, including planning, programming, production, financial management, fund raising, marketing, public relations, facilities management, and community engagement.
The Executive Director provides leadership to the fundraising efforts of the organization. S/he designs and implements strategies to raise at least $1.5 million annually for current expenses. S/he nurtures relationships with existing donors. S/he identifies, cultivates, and solicits donors. S/he builds relationships throughout the community to heighten awareness of WHBPAC and to expand the pool of contributors at all levels.
The Executive Director provides leadership and impetus to the Board and staff in developing strategic plans for the organization and ensuring that plans are implemented, monitored, and evaluated on an on-going basis. The Executive Director recruits, hires, motivates, supervises and evaluates a high performing staff to achieve the mission and goals of WHBPAC.
The Executive Director is the chief programmer for WHBPAC's annual schedule of performances. S/he ensures that the program offerings represent a broad, diverse, and high quality array of artists and entertainers who will appeal to current audiences while attracting new audiences as area demographics change and evolve. S/he maintains positive working relationships with the agents who represent artists and entertainers. S/he provides oversight of the Center's education programs.
Working with the Board and the Finance Committee, the Executive Director develops and implements the annual operating budget. S/he ensures that earned and contributed income goals are met. S/he monitors performance against budget, makes corrections as needed, and provides regular financial reports to the Board of Directors.
The Executive Director provides leadership for the marketing efforts of the organization. S/he ensures that the WHBPAC brand is recognized and respected throughout the community and region as well as with the arts and entertainment world that represents the talent WHBPAC seeks to engage. S/he ensures that goals for audience development, education, outreach, and community engagement are met.
The Executive Director is the chief spokesperson for the organization and represents WHBPAC with all external audiences throughout the community, region, and the state. S/he aggressively seeks opportunities to develop productive partnerships and collaborations. S/he attends performances and, as a full-time resident, is an active and visible participant in the arts and community life in the greater Westhampton area.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader and strategic thinker who combines passion and creativity with a thorough knowledge and understanding of the broad range of performing arts and entertainment. S/he will have a strong record of success in programming, presenting, fundraising, audience development, and marketing. S/he will be at home working with artists, entertainers, and ensembles in a variety of genres.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for presenting arts and entertainment to the public. S/he will have a demonstrated record of success in retaining and building audiences for a diverse offering of presentations.
The successful candidate will be an effective and enthusiastic fundraiser. S/he will have superb public presentation skills and a record of success in generating financial support for on-going programs, educational activities, special projects, and endowment. S/he will have strong entrepreneurial instincts and will be creative in finding new and effective ways to increase financial support for WHBPAC.
The successful candidate will be an experienced executive with excellent planning, organizational, communications, financial, and management skills. S/he will be skilled in recruiting and working effectively with volunteers in both governance and support roles. S/he will have the ability to lead, inspire, and motivate staff in an environment that fosters creativity, a commitment to excellence, teamwork, and mutual respect.
The successful candidate will be a person of high energy with the ability and willingness to maintain a rigorous schedule that includes evening and weekend performances and special events. S/he will have at least ten years' senior executive experience, and will be a person of integrity, maturity, and sound judgment.
