Summary:
We are seeking a qualified individual for a Production Manager position. This position will oversee, coordinate and manage all production services within the scope of generally accepted procedures and practices for a major performing arts facility.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and skills of general facility management, production and personnel management, theatre craft, financial budgets and overall technical supervision. Additionally, knowledge of and experience with OSHA regulations and record keeping, lighting systems, sound systems and electrical systems, current trends in theatrical stage systems, knowledge of theatrical suppliers and vendors, IT structures and current trends in theatrical/office technology, experience in event production management are all essential elements to this position. The ideal candidate shall also have experience in negotiating vendor contracts, professional interaction with management personnel, vendors, clients of all levels and an ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and Oversee all production aspects of events at multi-purpose performing arts facility
• Work with facility management team on Union labor contract negotiations
• Manage Union personnel during load-in/load-out and performances in conjunction with Union Steward
• Manage Wardrobe personnel during rehearsal and performances in conjunction with Wardrobe Supervisor
• Develop, implement, manage and document all production labor for event and facility budgets
• Management of extensive list of vendor relationships, including contract maintenance, and city/district licensing and permitting authorities
• Development and implementation of maintenance and repair schedules for all technical systems in the facility
• Manage and oversee hiring and staffing for all events by utilizing union labor and seasonal production staff
• Develop and implement venue guidelines, policies and procedures for delivery of services by the production department
• Work with Operations Manager on managing venue capital expenditure projects
• Substitute as Operations Manager (as needed)
• Advance shows with clients and tours, participate in venue site visits and coordinate needs as required
• Provide an estimate and final settlement paperwork for every event
• Attend all relevant meetings, functions and discussions
• Communicate regularly and provide other departments with production information
• All duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 8 years experience in comparable work experience including management level experience
• Excellent oral and written communication
• Ability to work day, evening and weekend hours, based on the needs of daily business operations
• College degree from an accredited 4-year college/university or comparable work experience
• Operational and working knowledge of production techniques, issues and trends
• Operational and working knowledge of current sound and lighting systems
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
