Department Description:
The Corporate and Business Development team is responsible for setting strategic priorities and initiatives for Warner Music Group, and for making business recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors, and Access Industries. The team is charged with pursuing joint ventures, strategic alliances/partnerships, and acquisitions to enhance and diversify Warner’s revenue streams. The team is also responsible for growing WMG’s digital revenue by sourcing and executing license deals with established and emerging digital partners (e.g., Apple, Spotify, Snapchat, etc.).
High Level Job Description:
The Corporate Development Senior Analyst will play an integral role in supporting the group to generate, manage, and execute corporate development and innovation-focused business development activities. This role will report to the Director, Corporate Development, will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer/Corporate, and will frequently interact with other Warner Music Group executives. He or she will be required to handle multiple projects across a variety of business categories. The Senior Analyst will conduct the analytical work behind corporate development deals and any innovation-focused business development deals. This will primarily involve research, qualitative analysis, data analysis, financial modeling, and the creation of presentations.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
• Conduct a wide range of analyses- from financial modeling to deal scenario modeling - in support of strategic initiatives, deal negotiations, and research geared toward gaining transparency into the company’s business units
• Collaborate with WMG executives, operators (e.g., marketing, A&R), and legal team to vet, execute, and activate deals
• Work with external companies to generate innovative partnership ideas
• Act as “Chief of Staff” for COO, assisting in his presentations.
Required Competencies/Skills:
• Self-starter who can drive projects forward independently
• Expert Excel and Powerpoint skills
• Deep experience in data analysis and financial modeling
• Strong analytical and interpersonal/communication skills
• Ability to think creatively and strategically
• Ability to build and maintain a network of relationships which facilitate transaction flow
• Ability to build consensus and experience aligning and driving cross-functional groups
Special Requirements/Preferences:
• Passion for, or background in, the music and/or broader media and entertainment industry
Experience Required/Preferred:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 1-3 years in management consulting or investment banking
